Job Description
The Guest / Interviews Journalist is responsible for researching, finding and delivering guest interviews for Sky News Arabia. You will maintain your own contacts and be responsible for maintaining and improving Sky News Arabia's contacts database. You will offer up guests on your own initiative, and also deliver them according to the specifications of individual production teams. Exclusive interviews make news and the Interviews/Guest Journalist will be expected to endeavor to ensure that the mix of guests that appear on Sky News Arabia does not become formulaic.

 

Key Responsibilities
  • Liaises with production teams on identifying potential topics for interview segments.
  • Researches interview topics and individual guests, writing background briefs for presenters, production teams and reporters where necessary.
  • Books guests for Sky News Arabia and ensures that they make it to air, taking responsibility for arranging the logistics and liaising with the news desk over studio and satellite bookings.
  • Maintains a strong personal contacts book and maintains and improves the Sky News Arabia contacts database.
  • Participates in regular editorial meetings and keeps abreast of local, national, and international current events, as well as online news sources.
  • May be required to writes news copy and scripts to accompany pieces, and use newsroom desktop editing technology to cut pictures and interview clips.
Key Skills, Experience and Educational
  • Experience in television news, including television news production.
  • An excellent contacts book and proven experience of delivering guests or exclusive interviews.
  • An inquisitive mind, good telephone manner and ability to convince guests to appear.
  • Capable of creatively developing interviews that will inform, enlighten, and entertain audiences.
  • Must be capable of working long hours, including early mornings, late nights, weekends, and holidays.
  • Fluent in both written and spoken Arabic & English.
  • Minimum of 6 years’ experience required.
  • BA degree in journalism, media or communication studies is preferred.
