Job Description
The Senior Executive Producer plays a pivotal role in coordinating and overseeing the NewsDesk and newsgathering functions. Mainly responsible for making sure all the teams in the bureaus and in the field deliver the necessary output for the television and for the online platforms. Closely liaising with the programs team in Abu Dhabi HQ. You will be required to coordinate with deployment, satellite and news technology divisions.
You will manage a team of EPs, News Producers, Reporters and Multimedia Journalists. Your mission will be to gather and produce news with panache while ensuring Sky News Arabia's editorial guidelines and values are adhered to.Key Responsibilities
- Assists and at times will deputise for the Senior News Editor in coordinating between the teams in bureaus and field and the needs of the television output teams and digital platforms.
- Supports the teams in the field with editorial input, factual information and direction.
- Assists the news editors in coordinating the daily diary.
- Supports the news desk with administrative functions such as editorial, satellite and financial logs.
- Works closely with the Head of News, playing an active role in the News leadership team, the wider channel strategy, and editorial decisions.
- Manages the team workload and team performance effectively.
- Manages a dedicated team of executive producers, bureaus producers and reporters, works closely with on-air talent, creative and studio staff to deliver distinctive and original news coverage that fulfils Sky News Arabia's ambitions and mission.
- Works with the news desk and other output teams to cultivate a collaborative approach to news gathering and delivery across Sky News Arabia.
- Ensuring that Sky News Arabia's editorial guidelines and values are adhered to.
- Flexible and able to work on a shift pattern to fulfil a 24-hour news organization's needs.
- May require to work with presenters and other journalists on location both in Abu Dhabi, within the region, or internationally.
- Ability to effectively manage breaking news.
- Positively cooperates and collaborates with the gallery team during news coverage & breaking news.
Key Skills, Experience and Education
- BA in journalism or another related social science major.
- Minimum of 15 years’ experience working in television news.
- Extensive experience in television news with at least 5 years’ experience in a senior level, including newsgathering and television news production.
- An excellent journalist with strong editorial judgment.
- Previous experience in a large national or international broadcast news channel.
- Experience in newsroom production systems and desktop editing.
- Ability to manage a big team in the HQ and SNA international bureaus.
- Strong leadership skills.
- Evidence of a broad range of journalistic interests including social affairs, international politics, public policy, world business and economic affairs, Sciences, and the Arts.
- Fluent in both written and spoken Arabic and English.
