Job Description

As a Senior Planning Producer “SPP”, you will be a senior team member who is expected to add value to Sky News Arabia's content diversity and exclusivity in all platforms including television, Radio, digital and online. Your excellent knowledge of Middle East and international news as well as geopolitical settings is critical and important in order to pursue your job on the best professional basis. Understanding the significant development in media landscape and the impact of digital media also is one way to being creative and innovative in your ideas and proposals.

 

Key Responsibilities
  • Generate, research and develop story ideas and maintain forward diaries.

  • Provide direction and supervision to other team members to help emphasize their career development.

  • Make sure all planning team members have same load of work and activity.

  • Prepare for and lead the weekly planning meeting.

  • Assist in finding case studies, unique stories and seasons to execute throughout the year.

  • Lead the weekly planning meeting and brief the newsroom about future events and assignments.

  • Prepare and supervise diary entries, gather news, suggest guests and filming opportunities.

  • Liaise with reporters to help them develop broadcast packages and digital content for special planned coverage.

  • Liaise with Operations and Assignment to resource permissions and logistics for the different plans.

  • Track coverage budget and make sure that plans are executed within allocated budget.

  • May be requested to work in the field in big and special events and to act up for the Planning Editor role.



Key Skills, Experience and Education
  • Should have at least 8 – 10 years’ work experience in planning or newsgathering.

  • Significant experience in news and media industry.

  • Extensive existing contacts with news sources.

  • Good communication skills and ability to work effectively as part of a team.

  • Attention to detail.

  • Ability to manage workload, set priorities and lead others.

  • Problem solver.

  • Masters Arabic language both written and spoken, also fluent in written and spoken English.

  • BA degree in media an advantage.

  • Working in regional or international broadcasters is an advantage.
