Job Description
Master Control Room is the technical hub of all the broadcast operations, where the signals from both audio and video pass through prior to transmission.  The News Operations Centre Engineer works within the MCR on equipment which might typically include video monitors, satellite receivers, bonding units and transmission equipment.  Candidate will be required to check the quality of content, ensuring the transmission meets government regulations and respond to any technical issues from other areas of the operation.  
Key Responsibilities
  • Prepare the Live Bookings to be ready to go on-air.
  • Conduct quality check for all incoming materials.
  • Coordinate with satellite earth station, monitor and manage the satellite slots to use them in bookings by right way.
  • Prepare backup line for distribution fibre outage.
  • Control and configure the streaming devices.
  • Manage and maintain the Master Control Room equipment and systems.
  • Ensure the proper functioning of SMPTE 2110-based broadcast systems.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve/report technical issues related to SMPTE 2110 equipment.
  • Monitor signal quality and make necessary adjustments.
  • Collaborate with broadcast engineers and production teams for live events.
  • Keep abreast of industry trends and technologies, especially those related to SMPTE 2110.
  • Write technical reports and keep up to date with developments in technology and regulations.
Key Skills, Experience and Education
  • Bachelor’s degree in Electronic Engineering, Broadcast Technology, or a related field (or equivalent work experience).
  • 3-5 years’ experience in MCR and SNG Field preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of SMPTE 2110 standards and protocols.
  • Proficiency with broadcast equipment, signal routing, and monitoring tools.
  • Advanced operation knowledge in MPLS, SDWAN, routing.
  • Troubleshooting skills for broadcast-related issues.
  • Familiarity with video and audio codecs, compression, and streaming technologies.
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
  • Ability to work under pressure and handle live broadcast situations.
  • Any certifications related to broadcast engineering or SMPTE standards would be a plus.
  • Good experience in Video (HD, SD,4K, etc) and Audio tech.
  • Know how to use wave form and spectrum analyser.
  • Ability to work under pressure and in a teamwork environment.

  • Very good communication skills.
  • Flexibility and multi-tasking skills.
  • Fluency in Arabic (preferrable) + Good in English (speaking & writing).
