Job Description

The Playout Operator performs tapeless multi device playout duties in a complex 24-hour newsroom gallery environment. A key responsibility includes performing server play‐out at an operational level within a studio gallery. You will have knowledge of tapeless environments, and the systems used; you will also have a keen interest in staying with emerging technologies and techniques within the industry. The playout operator will be required to work in a shift pattern including nights to accommodate a rolling 24-hour news channel. You will have a passion for News and Current affairs, and a keen interest in Journalism.

Key Responsibilities
  • Ensure material are available for playout in a timely fashion from the server.
  • Ensure that video list is loaded correctly and has all the material for a news show or a program.
  • Control the timing of news shows and programs.
  • Assist in time slip operation.
  • Ability to build an instant backup list in case of main playout system down.
Key Skills, Experience and Education
  • BA in media or related field preferable.
  • 3 years’ experience with iNEWS and EVS in a multi‐channel, multilingual television broadcast as Playout Operator.
  • Fluent in both Arabic and English (written and spoken).
  • Proven experience and professional knowledge with all equipment and procedures in the Playout area.
  • Experience with the complexities of digital distribution systems.
  • Strong, clear communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and in a team.
