Job Description:
The Field Cameraman will be responsible for capturing and editing news footage, both in the field and in the studio. Based in Abu Dhabi, this role may involve travel across the Middle East, North Africa, and internationally for filming assignments and breaking news stories. The Field Cameraman will ensure that live shots meet the highest technical standards for quality and clarity.
The Field Cameraman will work with various technologies, including HD ENG news cameras and mini-cams, and must be proficient in editing with Adobe Premiere software. Familiarity with newsgathering technologies, such as network bonding devices and other video transport stream technologies, is required. As a versatile team member, you will contribute to both small and large teams to deliver world-class broadcast journalism.
Key Responsibilities:
Shoot, edit, and transmit HD footage for news coverage.
Handle domestic and international assignments, including travel to challenging environments.
Provide live shots from various locations, managing setup and transmission via satellite, internet transport stream, Fiber, etc.
Maintain high standards in storytelling and technical skills for both broadcast and digital journalism.
Select and set up camera equipment and lighting for various shooting scenarios.
Log and archive footage systematically.
Adhere to health, safety, and security protocols while performing duties.
Key Skills, Experience and Education:
Diploma or associate degree in Audio Visual Communications or similar relevant degree.
Minimum of 5 years’ experience as ENG News Cameraman.
Fluency in Arabic and proficiency in English (spoken and written).
Experience in field operations and live field (Conflict Zones).
Proficiency in various shooting techniques, including indoor and outdoor shooting, shooting on the go’, interviewed based shooting.
Experience collaborating with reporters and field directors.
Expertise in Adobe Premiere for editing.
Experience in computer equipment, and basic network operations in a fast-paced environment.
Ability to light, shoot and record sound simultaneously to high technical standard.
Experience with bonding equipment and FTP transfer (Livewire experience is a plus).
Knowledge of HD and 4K formats is advantageous.
Proficiency in IOS and Microsoft Office (Word, PowerPoint, Excel).
Capability to work under pressure, meet tight deadlines, and function effectively within a team.
Strong communication and multitasking skills.
Proficiency in reporting and archiving skills.
