Job Description: As a Senior Support/Broadcast Engineer, you will be Highly Organized, detail oriented and self-motivated individual with outstanding communication, broadcast IT engineering and production skills. You will possess expert level knowledge necessary to perform maintenance, system design and installation and repair of broadcast IT Equipment’s. You will have previous supervisory level experience in state-of-the art 24/7 live broadcast environment. Key Responsibilities:
  • Proactively identifies any issues that may bear an impact on the Broadcast systems or on its operations.
  • Evaluates and review all planned work and changes as submitted by Broadcast Engineers.
  • Manages work schedules for the team, completes all relevant paperwork, supports, coaches and reviews the team continually.
  • Is responsible for ensuring that all documentation is kept up to date.
  • Take adequate measures to ensure systems/backup are available for 24x7 news production.
  • Ensure all systems are available for business continuity as per the existing design.
  • Improve the competency and productivity of the team by encourage / motivate them.
  • Providing & implementing a training plan to raise the expertise of a team members to support all critical area.
  • Investigate and recommend new systems with new technology which can improve the performance and add value to our business.
  • Follow up day to day issues & make sure that all issues are logged and that logs are in proper forms and in detailed.
  • Make sure that daily technical maintenance/check-up procedure are completed.
  • Work closely with shift engineer and guide him to improve the support skills and level.
  • Prepare/supervise the periodical department reports.
  • Identify and recommend any additional equipment’s or required spare parts.
  • Regular system monitoring and recommend for the refreshments and upgrade if required.
  • Check, follow up and carry out the Routine Maintenance of all the systems. Prepare the record and update the maintenance of all the systems under SLA are carried out as per the SLA terms.
  • Work closely with newsroom/editorial & Radio teams to make sure that newsroom production workflow is quick, smooth, accurate & to provide a training sessions for them if required.
  • Provide & suggest new workflow/systems to enhance newsroom, Digital & Radio production workflows.
  • Closely monitor & maintain Agencies videos & data feeds workflow to ensure material availability & fast delivery.
  • Closely monitor & maintain NRCS system and integrations with Data, graphics and video systems.
Key Skills, Experience and Education:
  • Strong Broadcast & broadcast IT skills to support all broadcast & broadcast IT systems is essential.
  • Good leadership, Team management & communication skills.
  • Good Time management & Decision making skills.
  • Very good foundation in Analog / digital audio-video technology.
  • Good experience in supporting all broadcast technical areas/systems & to provide work around solutions.
  • Knowledge of broadcast rules and regulations.
  • Familiar with broadcast systems from contribution through to distribution.
  • Expertise in systems like Avid Media central NRCS, Newsroom production system, Studio Automation system, Transmission Automation system, Broadcast Traffic & Scheduling System, Grass valley I-Control Control and monitoring system,  VIZRT graphic system, AR/VR/XR Graphics system, EVS Production System, Camera Robotic, LTO based Tape Library and Archive System, Multi format routers, Bonded Cellular Technology etc. is an advantage.
  • Knowledge of SMPTE 2110 & NDI based standards relating to IP Media Transport and Studio IP workflows are desirable.
  • Fully conversant with all test and monitoring broadcast equipment.
  • The capacity to analyse a situation quickly and effectively, to assess and react in a logical manner to an evolving situation and to grasp the important elements.
  • Knowledge in RF uplink/Downlink systems and experience in FlyAway/DSNG workflow is an advantage.
  • Ability to work in a high pressured environment.
  • Good verbal and written communication skills.
  • 10 years’ Experience of Broadcast Engineer role in a 24 x 7 news channel.
  • Able to work effectively in a team and independently.
  • Degree in engineering is preferred.
  • Arabic language skill is preferred.
