Job Description
The Social Media Specialist will be responsible for running, maintaining and managing all social media platforms on which Sky News Arabia is present.
He or she will be in charge of the ongoing management and growth of the organization’s social media presence in alignment with business strategies and direction.
The ideal candidate should be energetic, creative, industrious and multitasking with strong inter-personal skills, excellent Arabic writing skills and strong knowledge of the regional media scene and the social networks of all kinds.
Key Responsibilities
- To write and publish posts of different types (text, picture and video) across all various social networks.
- To monitor and report quantity and quality of Social Media traffic.
- To maintain awareness of social media trends and updates.
- To implement the digital strategic plans with professionalism and innovation.
- To liaise with the PR and Communication team as far as promotion programs and plans are concerned.
- To evaluate content and effectively cope with media crises.
- To use social media to influence and drive interest.
- To coordinate the PR and marketing calendar with online activity, tracking social media influence measurements.
- To partner with other departments to ensure proper online messaging and relevancy.
- To ensure consistency of messages across multiple networks.
- To prepare reports to update internal staff on usage statistics, and continuous monitoring and coverage of all sites.
- To manage communities on the company’s behalf using Facebook, Twitter, YouTube and Google Plus.
- To provide relevant content daily while tracking metrics and monitoring relevant conversations.
- To moderate the user generated content on the organization’s pages on social networks.
- To translate the editorial objectives of the organization into ideas & initiatives compatible with the social media platforms.
- To collaborate with cross-functional teams to develop marketing and communications plans that leverage the social media space.
- To create, manage and grow the ogranization’s presence across social media channels, including, but not limited to Facebook, Twitter, YouTube and Linkedin.
Key Skills, Experience and Education
- In-depth knowledge and understanding of the Middle East media scene.
- Excellent written and verbal communications skills; oral and written Arabic fluency is a must.
- Experience in writing, editing and crafting content for the social media space.
- Experience with social media management and analytics tools, including, but not limited to HootSuite, TweetDeck and Sprout Social.
- Positive, “can-do”, solution-focused approach to work.
- Team player with excellent interpersonal skills, demonstrating high level of tact, diplomacy and cultural sensitivity.
- The right candidate will have a degree in marketing, journalism or mass communication, possess excellent verbal and written communication skills (including proofreading), and have expert knowledge of social networking channels.
- 3 to 5 years of experience in journalism, PR, Marketing, Social Media or a related field.
- The candidate must possess a solid understanding of the social media universe, including Facebook, YouTube, Twitter, Google Plus, Instagram and others.
- Fast learning with flexibility in working hours, and ability to work under pressure.
