Job Description:

The Satellite Desk Coordinator is responsible for booking satellite & fibre links world-wide for the transmission of live and any play-out materials when required. The candidate will be required to liaise with Stakeholders to determine requirements for play out & live contribution feeds, entering details in the booking system to inform technical areas of how feed is routed, which equipment is allocated and provide contact details as required and allocating necessary equipment in Sky News Arabia NOC for facilitating each feed. He/she will be required to deal with external clients wanting to access Sky News Arabia material and facilities and keep accurate financial records trough the booking system.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Responsible for booking satellite & fibre links world-wide for the transmission of live and taped materials for Sky News Arabia when required.
  • Coordination of all SNG requirements, 3rd party service providers and Broadcasters and liaising with Sky Arabia NOC and all related stakeholders to achieve success in delivery of signals.
  •  Secure best services and costs for delivery of broadcast signals for Sky News Arabia.
  •  Accurately relay highly complex information to other areas e.g. NOC, Studios, Transmission.
  •  Prioritize workload so that all requirements are met in agreed timescales.
  •  Manage internal and external relationships - including third parties and key clients within the business.
 
Key Skills, Experience and Education:
  • Associate Degree in media, communication, broadcast or engineering is an advantage.
  • Training in Booking Management software is preferred.
  • 1-3 years’ previous experience in satellite coordination and operating satellite control equipment.
  • Fluency in Arabic + Good English or an additional European language an advantage.
  • Experience in a related area (e.g. Service Provider/Broadcaster).
  • Ability to demonstrate tact and diplomacy in situations where competing interests exist within the business and with third parties.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with technical and creative departments and third party Broadcasters or Service Providers.
  • Good Word/Excel/Outlook skills.
  • Knowledge of tape and master control equipment and procedures, depending on area of assignment.
  • Knowledge of television camera operations and set up.
  • Knowledge in operation of video tape recorders.
  • Knowledge of broadcasting rules and regulations.
  • Knowledge of basic electronic theory.
  • Stress tolerant and high adaptability to fast changing situations.
  • Professional attitude, polite and courteous.
  • Ability to work under pressure and to tight deadlines and within a teamwork environment.
  • Communication skills and multi-tasking skills.
