Job Description: The Traffic/Scheduling Producer is responsible for Sky News Arabia’s presentation planning function on all relevant delivery platforms, ensuring collaboration with key stakeholders, business units and management in order that on-air presentation schedules are delivered accurately and reflect all operational, editorial and business requirements. Key Responsibilities:
  • Ensure the timely delivery of accurate schedules, which are fully compliant with the channel’s editorial and strategic requirements, for broadcast on all relevant delivery platforms.
  • Maximize revenue-generating opportunities available from maximizing commercial and sponsorship airtime.
  • Maximize the effectiveness of Sky News Arabia’s promotional airtime by the implementation of the promotional strategy and ensuring all cross-platform promotional opportunities are exploited.
  • Liaise closely with the promotion & Commercial teams to ensure all necessary commercial and promotional materials are received in advance of scheduled broadcast.
  • Allocate asset IDs for ingested materials according to the allocation strategy.
  • Produce regular reports of high standards to include changes to planned schedules and issues encountered.
  • Communicate late schedule changes with the operational and editorial teams in an effective and consistent manner.
  • To keep abreast of current affairs in the event that unscheduled changes need to be implemented.
  • Support the Scheduling Team Leader in preparing contingency plans should live events, for example, run over or under time. 
  • Provide support to the 24/7 operational and editorial teams for late schedule changes.
  • To ensure that ‘as run’ (actually transmitted) information supplied by Commercial Department is reconciled into On-air so that the historic schedule is always accurate and complete.
  • To review the schedules prior to publication - checking for clashes and other problems. 
  • Support the Planning section on programs delivery, duration and the proposed transmission date.
Key Skills, Experience and Education:
  • BA in media related field is preferred.
  • At least 3 years of experience in a similar capacity within a broadcasting environment especially on Harris BCM.
  • Good written and spoken Arabic and English.
  • Extensive experience with a variety of traffic systems and office computer applications.
  • Working knowledge of industry best practice in broadcast operations, traffic and commercial sales workflows.
  • Ability to flexibly adjust working hours in short notice according to business needs.
  • Understanding of short-, medium- and longer-term tactical scheduling strategies.
  • Good computer skills; experience of word processing and using spreadsheets. Experience of using and adapting IT applications and interrogating databases, including complex data extraction and manipulation and of translation of such data into user friendly formats.
  • Editorial workflow awareness.
  • Ability to work without close supervision.
  • Passion & enthusiasm for Television.
