Job Description:

The News Presenter is the host of television news, work on a huge range of subjects from news to current affairs material. You must introduce and keep news flowing, interview your subjects and generally make sure that everything sticks to schedule and that the audience know exactly what is going on at any given time.

 You need to have excellent communicatory and writing skills, and be able to both stick to a script and to improvise if anything was to go wrong at any point. Your personality needs to be infectious to the audience and your knowledge of your show must be backed up with anecdotes, facts and stories.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Anchors either individually or with colleagues the channel's news output and other programmes with everything that entails in terms of reading news items and lead‐ins, conducting live interviews and presenting unscripted coverage of breaking news stories as required.
  • Writes or edits material for programme scripts, bulletins and links, while exercising editorial judgment, maintaining professional journalistic standards and adhering to SNA Editorial policies, legal and contractual guidelines.
  • Prepares and presents bulletins, which may include assessing incoming copy, sub‐editing news copy and deploying the necessary resources.
  • Carries out in-depth research to a broad brief, with minimal supervision across the whole range of broadcasting news and current affairs output.
  • Originates and develops programme ideas; to assist in forward planning of material for future programmes.
  • Liaises with and services the requirements of the network newsrooms.
  • Undertakes interviewing and reporting duties, under broad direction in both recorded and live situations, in studio or on location.
  • Mainly works in the studio, but may also be required to work on different locations either locally, in the Middle East and North Africa or internationally.
  • Presents digital content on different media platforms, demonstrates creativity and be fully involved with the digital teams and production process - from reactive ideas meetings through to delivery of the content. Come up with ideas, bring in stories, carry out pre-recorded interviews and host live streamed content on social platforms.  
Key Skills, Experience and Education:
  • Must have a proven track record in journalism with extensive knowledge of news and current affairs.
  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience working as a presenter.
  • BA in journalism or media studies is a major plus.
  • Must be confident and assured on screen, at ease with lengthy periods of live presentation, and must possess the ability to cope with the extreme pressure of breaking news.
  • Must have a clear speaking voice and demonstrable confidence in front of the camera.
  • Should have the ability and confidence to ad‐lib confidently when required.
  • Should have the ability to conduct interviews with a wide‐range of interviewees with flair and authority.
  • Must demonstrate fluency in both written and spoken Arabic and English languages.
