Job Description
The Washington Bureau Cameraman/Editor will be responsible for shooting and editing all aspects of news coverage for the Bureau as well as covering the region and beyond. Working on location, filming fast news-breaking stories, you will be responsible for ensuring the live and camera shots are delivered to a high technical standard. Working in a small team, you will be experienced utilizing a variety of technologies such as HD ENG news cameras, mini-cams, Adobe CC editing software and IP video & Audio streaming Devices. You will be an expert in delivering world class broadcast journalism to the world.
Key Responsibilities

Shooting and editing HD footage to the highest standards.

To be the lead technical craftsman in Bureau team.

Be flexible to work on assignment both from your region and internationality, which may sometimes include travelling to hostile environments.

Provides live shots from various locations, from set up to transmission through IP video/audio streaming device or fibre.

Essential to have understanding on several shooting techniques such as indoor and outdoor shooting, ‘shooting on the go’, interviewed based shooting.

Determine the lighting needs and requirement for different basic set up including Studio Setup.

To edit the footage and create packages where ever necessary.
-
To be a key member of a small bureau team to ensure highest quality storytelling, with creative skills in broadcast and in delivering digital journalism.

To maintain technical and IT infrastructure of bureau operation.

To log and archive footage appropriately.
-
To ensure duties are carried out with proper reference to health and safety and security considerations.
Key Skills, Experience and Education
-
Ability to light, shoot and record sound simultaneously to high technical standard.
-
Experience of Adobe CC edit software.
-
Experience in the use of Bonding Devices and Livewire, Newscaster an advantage.
-
Experience in HD and 16.9 formats and producing videos for Social Media platform.
-
Experience working in a hostile environment isn’t a must but can be highly advantageous.
-
Proven ability to work under pressure and to tight deadlines.
-
Fluency in Arabic and English.
-
Several years’ experience in video production in the field working for a reputable TV or broadcast media entity is a must.
-
Display sound theoretical, practical and technical knowledge of cameras.
-
Have an ability to frame and compose shots.
-
Have ability to perform camera moves accurately.
-
Display excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
-
Have the capacity to multi-task and take direction from others.
-
Be fully versed in field news gathering operations.
-
Deliver high quality, from the field, that show initiative an imagination.

Archive shot material and maintain the video library in their respective bureaus.
-
Contribute ideas and suggestions.
-
Meet editorial deadlines.
-
Maintain your equipment and Report technical problems.
