Job Description
The Sports Producer / Presenter is a member of the sports team working under the direction of the Sports Editor. You will be responsible primarily for presenting the sports news, either individually or as part of a team. You will also be required to contribute to Sky News Arabia's sports content online and on other digital platforms. You will work predominately at Sky News Arabia's Abu Dhabi Headquarters but will be required to travel across the Middle East and North Africa and internationally.
Key Responsibilities
- Anchors the channel's sports news output, either alone or with a colleague, reading news items, conducting live interviews and presenting unscripted coverage of breaking news stories as required.
- Writes or edits material for programme scripts and sports bulletins, exercising editorial judgment, maintaining professional journalistic standards and adhering to station policy and legal and contractual guidelines.
- Undertakes interviewing and reporting duties in both recorded and live situations, in studio or on location.
- Mainly works in the studio, but may also be required to work on location either locally, in the Middle East and North Africa or internationally.
- May be required to work a shift pattern and unsocial hours to serve the needs of a 24 hour news organisation.
Key Skills, Experience and Education
- Must have a proven track record in journalism with extensive knowledge of sports news.
- Demonstrate first class news judgment.
- Obvious aptitude for or experience of presentation.
- Experience of iNews and desktop editing software an advantage.
- Must be confident and assured on screen, at ease with lengthy periods of live presentation, and must possess the ability to cope with the extreme pressure of breaking news.
- Must have a clear speaking voice and demonstrable confidence in front of the camera.
- Should have the ability and confidence to ad‐lib confidently when required.
- Should have the ability to conduct interviews with a wide‐range of interviewees with flair and authority.
- Fluent in both written and spoken Arabic and English.
- Minimum of 5 years experience.
- BA in journalism or media studies a major advantage.
