Job Description

As a roving reporter you will be responsible for producing highly crafted broadcast packages and provide engaging lives for Sky News Arabia. You will also generate news-making content for Sky News Arabia's website and other digital platforms. You will initiate news stories and cover both breaking and pre-planned news. You will be required to travel across the Middle East and North Africa and internationally. Sky News Arabia will be distinguished by its excellent journalism.

Key Responsibilities

• Recognise a news story, pursue it aggressively, research and gather the required material and to assemble for broadcast, and narrate it clearly and confidently on air and through written digital content.
• Gathers news using contacts and sources through personal interviews, ideas, wire services, news briefings etc.
• Follows the latest developments across the region and has the ability to react to any given news assignment swiftly and under pressure.
• Works effectively as part of a team, co-operating with other members and demonstrating a collaborative and supportive approach in order to achieve the end result of delivering up to Sky News Arabia's requirements for original, distinctive journalism.
• Assists in setting the Sky News Arabia agenda.
• Required to work within a shift pattern across the whole week and including nights to service the needs of a 24 hour news channel.
• Required to report on location the Middle East, North Africa and internationally.

Key Skills, Experience and Education

• Senior journalist with considerable reporting experience over a number of years with an impressive showreel and online writing experience.
• Articulate and confident on air delivering both live reports and as part of real time discussion with the studio.
• Works under pressure and for long hours.
• Ability to work effectively as part of a team by co-operating with other members by demonstrating a collaborative and supportive approach.
• Camera / Edit experience would be a big plus.
• Fluent in both written and spoken Arabic and English.
• Minimum of 7 years relevant experience.
• Degree in journalism or relevant social science major.
